russia, surpassing saudi arabia. some critics have said that might be a bit too optimistic. what do you think? how did you reach that conclusion? >> i think this is very, very modest growth we expect in fact from natural states. mainly driven by tight oil, shale oil. if you look at the next years, we expect u.s. shale oil to grow 3 billion barrels per day and this will make u.s. the leader of global oil production overtaking saudi arabia and russia. and at the same time, the natural gas production is also going to increase significantly and as a result of that, we expect u.s. will be the top natural gas producer of the world, around 2015, overtaking russia. >> one of the things that's so key here, you mention unconventionals and the big boom that we're seeing here. but something else that you had in your report that hadn't been mentioned as much is the fuel efficiency that you see helping as well. how much does that contribute to what your forecasts are? >> exactly. when we say that u.s. is making giant steps towards self-sufficiency or energy independence, there are two legs of that. t

i read 20 years ago, from a book by joseph brosky, a russian, who grew up in stalinist russia, he wrote an essay on evil. at the end it says, no matter how evil your enemy is the crucial thing is that he is human. although incapable of loving another like ourselves, evil takes root when one man starts to think he is better than another which is what you have here. you are listening to these people how you are ruining their lives, and you are saying there's nothing we can do about it because you are serving the public. what you can take from this is a city small amounts compare to what the city needs, this is not going to solve the city's deficit problems because the deficit problems are endemic. the start of the federal government.

note just in passing that my wife's father, my father-in-law was born in russia, emigrated to the united states, like the rabbi and senator kohl's father. mr. president, it took four months but the republicans will finally realizing their way back from the fiscal cliff has been right in front of them all along. in july the senate passed legislation to give economic certainty to 98% of american families and to small businesses, to every american making less than $250,000 a year. for four months we've been one vote away for from a solution to this looming crisis. they've held the middle-class hostage to protect the richest 2% of taxpayers, people who enjoyed a decade of ballooning income and shrinking tax bills. one has to admire the president, who went out and campaigned on this issue. he didn't -- he didn't in any way walk away from the issue. he said that's how we're going to get our fiscal house in order. and independents by a huge margin, democrats by a huge margin, and 41e% of republicans support what the president asked us to do. now, reasonable republicans are coming
